Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto – Llanes

You can’t miss the Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto when you come to Llanes. You pass by it when you go to the port area, and it is filled every lunch and dinner time. Seeing so many fish options on their blackboard, we decided to have dinner with a view, on their terrace. We were impressed, and we will come back!

About Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto

What to order

Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto in Llanes has many fish and seafood options. We tried a couple, which we’ll feature, because of the freshness of the product and the excellent cooking technique. Since it is an Asturian Cider House, Restaurante El Puerto also offers traditional meat dishes like Escalopines al Cabrales, Tortos or Cachopo – which we recommend trying as well!

What makes Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto worth visiting

When you see a restaurant always busy with locals, you need to go eat there. That’s why we decided to go to Sidrería Restaurante El Puerto in Llanes.

They have two terraces: one with barrels and high tables, for drinks and quick tapas; and one with low tables, for lunch and dinner. Both terraces have a beautiful view of the Port of Llanes. Inside, they offer plenty of tables and in a nice and maritime ambiance – in case you need to keep out of the rain.

From the menu, we found plenty of options for the white wine and then for the food. The service was quick and polite, making the whole experience very enjoyable. We liked that there was no fried-oil smell, even though they offer several deep-fried dishes.

As the food arrived, we appreciated with each dish that the ingredients felt fresh and not overly cooked or oily. As it is in Asturias, the portions were big and perfect to share.

How to order here

If it’s low season, you may have a chance to get a table without a reservation. Simply go to the waiter and ask: “Una mesa para dos, por favor.” Otherwise, you may need to make a reservation – which is doable easily enough online, without needing to speak Spanish.

Once you are seated, the waiter will come to get your drink order first. You could get a cider, if you want to try the local drink, or one of their wines or beers.

After drinks are served, the waiter will come to ask for your food order. The menu they offer is in Spanish and English, so it will be easy enough to navigate it. Remember that the dishes are best to be shared and don’t come with garnish – it’s tapas style. Start with a dish per person, and if you’re hungry after those, you can always ask for more. You can always ask the waiter if you ordered too much food, since they know the portion size. You would say this in Spanish “¿Sera mucha comida?”.
