There are many Christmas markets in Spain, so it’s hard to choose once you’re planning your vacation. Here are some of the best options, considering how easy it is to reach the market, its historic background, and its decoration.
Madrid
While the capital of Spain has many Christmas markets, the one at Plaza Mayor is the most famous one. It has over 100 booths selling toys and Christmas decorations – plenty of options for you to choose from. Walk a couple of minutes, and you get to San Miguel Market, where you can get a drink and a tapa from any of the many stalls. It’s the perfect Madrid Christmas plan!

Seville
Imagine over 80 booths with artisanal Christmas decorations with the Seville Cathedral and the Giralda in the background! While you won’t feel the chill of winter in Seville, its festive decor will get you in the celebration mood. Besides shopping at the Seville Christmas Craft Fair in Plaza Nueva, you can also try some of the local Sevillan tapas while the kids get entertained in the dedicated area.

Malaga
Year after year, Malaga is considered the city with the most Christmas spirit and the biggest decorations. That makes it a fantastic destination for your December vacation! Head to Muelle Uno Market to experience one of the best Christmas markets in Europe, where Santa Claus set up Chocoland in 2025. And that’s not all: the city gets decorated in many other areas, of which Larios Street is the most impressive.

Barcelona
The Fair of Santa Llúcia in Barcelona is the oldest Christmas market in Spain, the first one being in 1786. Not only that, but the market is located in the beautiful Gothic neighborhood, next to the Cathedral.

Vigo
This Galician town pulled out all the stops and won the Holidayguru award for the Best Christmas town in Spain in 2025. Not because the climate is cold, but because they had over 400 streets decorated and used millions of lights. With a massive Christmas tree and several markets, Vigo is a worthy destination for your vacation.

Oviedo
Right in front of the Cathedral, the Christmas Market in Oviedo features twinkle lights, nicely decorated wooden booths, artisanal decorations, and colder weather. Walk a couple of minutes, and you’ll see more booths with delicious local products. And the nearby restaurants are also fantastic. It’s no wonder Oviedo was Spain’s Gastronomic Capital in 2024!
